Bondi Attack Linked to Pro-IS Network, Royal Commission Called
Update: 2025-12-15
Description
Naveed Akram, one of the Bondi Beach attackers, had ties to Australias pro-Islamic State network, including notorious cleric Wisam Haddad. Despite ASIO investigating Akram in 2019, no evidence of radicalization was found. Akram was a worshipper at Haddads prayer center and a street preacher for Dawah Van. The attack has sparked calls for a royal commission to examine the rise in antisemitism, hate speech, and ideologically driven crimes.
