Description

Last quarter at Oregon Health and Science University, graduate student Gail Stonebarger taught a section of an undergraduate class focused on the neuroscience of oppression and privilege.

For this week on Footnotes, we wanted to talk with Gail about that class, as well as a larger issue of representation in science, research, and STEM-related fields. We touch on the hierarchal structure of research, the lack of mental health support for underrepresented communities within STEM fields, and what we can do to change that.

Guest

  • Gail Stonebarger, PhD candidate in the Behavioral Neuroscience department at OHSU
