After getting into a serious car accident, a TV director discovers an underground sub-culture of scarred, omnisexual car-crash victims who use car accidents and the raw sexual energy they produce to try to rejuvenate his sex life with his wife. I am..... I am..... BEYOND DISTURBED by CRASH. (No, not the Oscar-winning movie about racism in Los Angeles but the NC-17 movie about people who get turned on by car crashes....) David Cronenberg has twisted my brain molecules in so many ways and crafted images so bleak and gross that I will never sleep again. Nevertheless, as controversial as it is, CRASH has a purpose. It's disturbing, yes, but visceral, intense, and positively gripping.
