Australian summer is fast approaching and as more of us spend time in water, new research suggests measures designed to prevent drownings may be part of the problem.
A total of 357 people drowned in Australia in the past financial year, and around a third of them were people born overseas.
A Monash University study has found lifesaving programs are either inaccessible or not inclusive to tourists and migrants.
