Humans work and receive wages for that work. When we commit sin, we will receive the wages of our actions, which is death. But eternal life and salvation cannot be earned by works. So God will not give us salvation as a reward for good works. Salvation and eternal life are provided by God’s forgiveness through faith in Jesus Christ, who is the only way to salvation for all people in the world, and we should not ignore salvation. Each of us deserves eternal separation from God. Every sin we have committed, whether rape, murder, adultery, theft, selfishness, gossiping, envy, lying, not loving others enough, etc., we all deserve punishment. But the good news is that Jesus Christ, who was fully God; He was without sin, was crucified in the form of a sinner. He never sinned, he became sin in our place, so that you and I could be accepted before God through Christ.
