Description
EPISODE 253 - If you want more hobby news, top auction listings, podcast episode details, contest giveaways and more, sign up for our free monthly newsletter here! For this month, we want to know what your hobby hot take is! Email us at hello@fivecardguys.com or DM us on IG @fivecardguys. We'll give away a couple of Topps Now cards (Ohtani 50/50 and Messi/Curry Night Night) to two randomly selected people who gives us their hot take!
Clark and Hyung start the show by discussing whether there's cause for concern that the Fanatics Collect Orlando event has been cancelled (instead of just postponed) or if it's much ado about nothing. They also react to the rumour that Fanatics Fest NYC may also be cancelled or another rumour saying it might just be pushed up to June before The National in 2025.
Then for "Hobby Headlines," the guys talk about the Paul Skenes MLB Debut Patch autograph 1/1 card and the incredible bounty offered by the Pittsburgh Pirates (and Livvy Dunne.) But they also discuss whether news like this has helped pushed the hobby more into the mainstream culture. Other examples include Patrick Bet-David talking about his $19M offer to buy a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle (PSA 10), as well as actress Emma Roberts opening packs with her fiancee, and UFC president Dana White also ripping packs.
Next, Clark and Hyung play another round of "Would You Rather" before ending the show with their regular weekly scheduled game called "Pick 1" where they each put up two cards and then debate which one they'd rather invest in.
