Verse 1: Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and talked with me, saying to me, “Come, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters,”
Knowing who the harlot, the woman, and the Beast of the main passage are is essential to interpret and understand chapter 17. The “harlot” in verse 1 refers to the world’s religions, while the “woman” refers to the world. The “Beast,” on the other hand, refers to the Antichrist. The “many waters” refers to the teachings of the Devil. The phrase, “I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters,” tells us that God would judge the world’s religions that sit on the many teachings of Satan.
