I am loving this so far! Well developed characters, tasty descriptions, interesting ideas, and a take on vampires that feels both fresh and yet established with a sense of age. It occurs to me that the events playing out here could be the beginning of a new social order. The chumps and super chumps might make chimps far less re easily available, and vampires would want to make sure their food supply isn't contaminated, so they would have an interest in protecting the chimps. Humans are not nearly as good at fighting as vampires, so they would definitely need the protection. I think a lot of us would acclimatize to locked down compound living in which we exchange blood donation for vampire protection, if the alternative were zombie apocalypse. Then you could pursue a plot line of figuring out where the zombies came from. Did someone make them on purpose? Who? What if it were the Daytime protectors, unhappy with their lot? Maybe, they were tired of vampires leaving all the time. Ho
