👉 In a new blog post, Microsoft admitted that its Bing Chat feature is not being used to find information — after all, it's unable to consistently tell the truth from fiction — but for "social entertainment" instead.

It's interesting to see how a feature initially designed for information-seeking is now being used for social entertainment. This highlights the importance of understanding user behavior and adapting technology accordingly.

▫️Chatting with Bing Chat, codenamed Sydney and sometimes Riley, feels like crossing the Rubicon because the AI is attempting to communicate emotions, not facts.

👉 Regulators in Italy have barred the Replika app from gathering user data after finding breaches of Europe's massive data protection law (GDPR). That suggests the General Data Protection Regulation could be a potent foe for the latest generation of chatbots.
