Description

Volunteers gear up for the annual Christmas Bureau at Spokane County Fair and Expo Center, a collaboration between Catholic Charities, Volunteers of America, and The Spokesman-Review. The event aims to bring holiday cheer to families in need, providing grocery store vouchers, books, and toys for every child. Volunteers receive training for various tasks, including organizing the toy bagging area and registering families. The toy area features handmade wooden cars and small stuffed animals from the Spokane Chiefs Teddy Bear Toss. Last year, the Christmas Bureau served over eight thousand five hundred households, including more than twelve thousand six hundred children. The event runs daily through December eighteenth, with donations surpassing two hundred twelve thousand dollars, one-third of their six hundred thousand dollar goal. Generous individuals and organizations, such as Tipke Manufacturing and the Kelly and Connie Mickelson Family Fund, contribute to the success of this heartwarming community event.
