The International Rescue Committee has released its 2026 Emergency Watchlist — a forecast of the 20 humanitarian crises most likely to worsen in the year ahead. Sudan tops the list for a third consecutive year, followed by the occupied Palestinian territories and South Sudan. Returning to the list for the first time since 2020 is Colombia: rising violence and regional instability are pushing displacement there to record levels.
