In Colossians 3:1-17, Paul challenges believers to live according to their new identity in Christ rather than settling for less. Since we have been raised with Christ, we must set our minds on things above and put to death our old sinful nature. This means actively removing behaviors like sexual immorality, greed, anger, and lies while intentionally clothing ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, patience, and love. When we truly live according to our new identity, we experience the peace of Christ that surpasses understanding—the wholeness and completeness we've been searching for.
