Community group to hold Mill Road Library meeting
Update: 2025-10-14
Description
Community groups in Cambridge are being invited to come forward with new ideas for the former Mill Road Library, after the preferred bidder pulled out.
The Grade Two listed building, which dates back to the 19th century, is owned by Cambridgeshire County Council and was last used as offices by a construction firm.
A public meeting’s being held at Mill Road Community Centre on Wednesday to discuss possible future uses.
Kate Collins of Love Mill Road told Julian Clover on Cambridge Breakfast that there was community support to turn the site into an arts centre.
The council says it’s open to offers from community groups that can show social or environmental benefits — and prove they can afford to buy and maintain the building.
