Description

Tragically, complacency in policing has been linked to many on-duty officer injuries and deaths. The saying “complacency kills” is no joke.

Complacency in policing arises when routine and overconfidence lead cops to neglect officer safety protocols, make regrettable assumptions, and reduce situational awareness. Most of the time, officer complacency doesn’t result in terrible outcomes. However, it takes but one convergence of the right factors, under the right conditions, for routine complacency to result in heartbreaking results.

In this episode, we give you the three critically important issues to consider when thinking about the role complacency plays in officer safety.
