In this episode, Dr. Brandon Welch and Dr. Jessica Beal-Stahl conclude their conversation on concussions. They define concussions and dive into the pathophysiology. They explain the basic diagnostic criteria as well as the diverse signs and symptoms of what one may suspect if they have one. Also, what are the common causes of a concussion. They dive into the high risk factors such as (age, gender, medical history etc.) and long-term complications of a concussion if not well treated or managed appropriately. Additionally, they discuss what are the non-pharmacological and pharmacological treatment options available to help better manage symptoms. Lastly, they talk about what future treatments are in the pipeline including the new intranasal drug ONP-002 and a noninvasive hypothermic device intended to decrease the severity of concussions symptoms.
