Corn Futures Surge, Export Shipments Rise
Update: 2026-01-06
Description
Corn futures kicked off the year with significant gains, driven by front months that surged six to seven cents higher. The CmdtyView national average cash corn price also rose, climbing seven and a half cents to four dollars and six and three-quarters cents per bushel. USDA reported a slight decrease in corn export shipments, but a notable increase compared to the same period last year. Japan led the list of destinations, followed by Mexico and Guatemala. Export sales data for the week of December twenty-fifth was on the low end of expectations, marking a marketing year low. However, managed money flipped to a net short position, and March, May, and July corn futures all closed higher. Checkout Solipillow.com
