Cover Crops, Mulching & how to manage Slater/Woodlice/Pill Bugs in the Garden!!
Description
Join me for a little garden update plus in this episode we discuss the different types of mulch I use in my urban permaculture garden and why. We also talk about cover crops and how to manage slater/ woodlice!!
There are a few things to consider when you are choosing mulch for the garden. Each type of mulch provides different pros and cons. Some provide food as they break down and others are long-lasting to keep moisture in. Some mulch is much easier to source because it is grown nearby eg: sugar cane mulch is popular in the Eastern States as a veggie garden mulch because it is grown locally and there is an abundant supply. Compared to here in WA it has to be imported. Sourcing locally is often more economical and you can ask questions to find out what quality the mulch is.
Plus today's plant of the week.... is a stunning perennial that I have been using as a potato substitute.
