Credit Is Power
Description
Winning the policy is only half the victory. To win the win, remember: credit isn’t a thank-you note — it’s infrastructure.
In this episode of Outwit, Outplay, Outorganize, Claire Douglass and Tykee James explore how recognition shapes who gets trust, funding, access, and influence in the next fight.
On Survivor: David vs. Goliath, Christian’s visibility makes him valuable… and then makes him a target. The lesson: the person at the podium is not always the person who built the power behind it.
To emphasize the importance of this lesson, Claire and Tykee discuss the historical Montgomery Bus Boycotts as well as two campaigns that Claire was involved in – the 2019 effort to pass the Arkansas Solar Access Act, where she helped lead strategy, and Oceana’s campaign to stop Atlantic offshore drilling, which she led from 2013 to 2017. These cases show what happens when credit concentrates versus when it is shared.
One weakens coalitions; the other builds leaders, trust, and durable power.
