Crude oil contracts on the New York Mercantile Exchange saw mixed results on Wednesday, with crude oil generally increasing and natural gas declining in later months. Heating oil and gasoline futures mostly rose across the board. The February twenty-six crude oil contract settled at fifty-five dollars and eighty-one cents, up sixty-eight cents. Heating oil futures saw significant gains, with the January twenty-six contract settling at two hundred fourteen dollars and ninety-five cents, an increase of two dollars and nine cents. Gasoline futures also had a strong day, with the January twenty-six contract rising by one hundred thirty-four points. Natural gas futures presented a more varied picture, with early contracts gaining and later contracts declining.
