On this week’s episode, host Caryn Antonini is joined by Mohammad Salehi, owner of Heray Spice, a Chicago-based Saffron and spice company committed to quality, freshness and transparency. Born and raised in Herat, Afhganistan, Mohammad grew up in a farming family. As a teenager he became a linguist and interpreter for the U.S. Army and Marines at Camp Stone in 2014. Receiving a special visa, he immigrated to the United States and attended college. Afterwards, he began embarking on his spice company, a social enterprise with a mission to enrich the lives of farmers while helping ensure that chefs and home cooks in the U.S. receive the freshest and highest quality, farm-to-table spices from Afghanistan.
