“The mind of him who has understanding seeks knowledge and inquires after and craves it, but the mouth of the [self-confident] fool feeds on folly.” (Proverbs 15: 14, Amplified Bible, Classic Edition)
Let’s keep our minds open and ready to gain more understanding. Let’s be wise enough to close our mouths from spouting opinion and believing what is not honestly from God, good.
We need to be humble enough to be led in new directions, not set in our ways or full of the pride of personal knowledge. Truth transcends what we may think we know, and true wisdom is to realize this and continue to listen, to be ready to be changed, to crave answers that are true and right for oneself and for all.
Acquiring human knowledge or power can set one in a position of arrogance, of self-confidence that is not based on what is right and good, but only on what seems to serve one in that moment. Tongues wag with bluster and defensiveness and yet this does not bring true peace or progress.
Let’s be willing to listen and to learn. Let’s stop letting the ego talk and instead humbly and gratefully let God speak. This is wisdom. This is Love.
