What do you do when your friends and family don’t support your dreams? Troy Hoffman gives his advice on what to do in the very possible situation of not having the support you thought you would get from loved ones when following your dreams. But a lot of the time, their reaction shouldn’t be taken at face value. Here’s why.
You've got this passion inside of your heart. You've got this fire burning your belly that wants to give birth to something greater than what you are currently living in right now. But when you excitedly tell your loved ones the great news, they don’t seem as enthused as you. They try to talk you out of it. They give you a laundry list of why you shouldn’t get ahead of yourself, and to plan a life with more stability and certainty.
Unfortunately, this is the crappy reality of chasing a dream and a vision that others cannot see. Sometimes, the people that love us are not going to understand us best. Unless someone has gone done a similar path themselves, all they can see is the mountain ahead that you have to climb. So funny enough, they’ll try to protect you from the hurt failure causes.
Understanding this, and moving forward despite the lack of support, is how a majority of entrepreneurs achieve their dreams. You’ve got to cut out the noise. They are going to think you are crazy. It’s part of the process. If you can be armored with this knowledge from the beginning, you can save yourself a lot of heartache on your journey.
