Dave “DMAC” McGlashan is the Executive Director at Adventure Treks & president of the board for America Outdoors. DMAC is originally from western North Carolina, where he grew up going to summer camps. He attended the University of Tennessee and earned a bachelor’s degree in human ecology, then a master’s in recreation and leisure studies. After grad school, DMAC spent time working across the US from Oregon to Maine before coming back to the Blue Ridge Mountains. He’s a NOLS graduate and a wilderness first responder. He has explored the outdoors of Italy, Thailand, Vietnam, Nepal, France, Germany, and Australia & can most often be found mountain biking in western North Carolina’s forests.

DMAC shows his passion for working in the outdoors & tells his personal growth story. He discusses the generational shift happening across many outdoor businesses today & the development of recreation in the US as a whole. We talk about everything from GDP to employee ownership to Scottish-Irish family history.
