Description

David Motes, affectionately known as "Pard." A 1977 World Champion Team Roper, 22-time NFR qualifier, and winner of four NFR average titles across three decades (1977, 1981, 1984, 1991), and dad to multiple-time NFR Heeler Ryan Motes.

We dive deep into how team roping has evolved over the years — from the ropes and cattle to the athletes and horses. David shares his take on where the sport still has room to grow, and we break down the top ropers from each decade, examining what set them apart and how the competition has changed over time.
