The much trumpeted but rejected by Canadians according to national Leger polling, Trudeau GST holiday and possible cheques for $250 for Canadians earning less than $150k in 2023 will not do anything to reduce food costs for Canadians in the new year. As 6.8 million Canadians live in daily food insecurity, including 2.1 million Canadian children, Canada's 2025 Food Price Report predicts a family of four in Canada will spend an additional $800 during calendar 2025.
