December 2, 2025: The Democrats Can’t Run to the Middle — Stand for Something

Today’s episode is a reminder — and a warning — about where this country is headed.

I start by saying something Democrats never want to hear but absolutely need to:

You cannot keep running to the middle.

You cannot keep trying to be “Republican-lite.”

That strategy has failed again and again.

You have to stand for something.

And what should that be?

A fair society.

That’s it. That’s the whole message.

I remind listeners that America has been here before. We had a Gilded Age — the rail barons, the monopolists, the political machines, the brutal inequality. And the only reason that era ended was because politicians finally stood up and said, “Enough.”

That era gave us FDR, the New Deal, and the creation of the American middle class — the greatest social invention in world history.

It didn’t happen by accident.

It didn’t happen by compromise.

It happened because leaders chose fairness, because people demanded justice, because progressives pushed the country forward.

We need that same courage again.

Not triangulation.

Not fear.

Not consultants whispering, “Don’t upset anyone.”

We need an unapologetic return to the values that created opportunity in the first place — LBJ, FDR, real progressive policies that lift everyone.

I also cover the bizarre moment this week where a major drug kingpin was pardoned, and while that news broke, Trump was ranting that we should invade Venezuela — as if he’s trying to start a war to distract from his own collapse.

And yes, I talk about Trump’s continued public meltdown and his attack on a female reporters — more proof that this man is unraveling and that the danger grows every time the media treats this as normal.

Through all of it, I remind listeners:

The biggest threat facing this country isn’t caravans or migrants or some imaginary culture war.

It’s wealth inequality.

It’s a political class — especially on the right — owned by billionaires and corporations, fighting every single day to keep working people weak, divided, and distracted.

If Democrats want to win, they don’t need to chase the middle.

They need to fight for fairness, fight for the middle class, and fight for the soul of the country.
