A Regency Treat of a Story!
Alex and Patienceâsigh! What a delightful couple they were! Patience is promised by her parents to Cyrus, the Duke of Bedfordâs heir apparent and older brother of Alex. But Patience falls in love with Alex during their first meeting and learns to loathe and fear his older brother Cyrus. When the betrothal is announced, Alex, as second son, takes off for military service. Four years later Alex comes home after the death of his father and his older brother and becomes the Duke of Bedford, only to find that Patience had never married Cyrus, that he had died before the marriage could take place. The rest of the story is about Alex wooing Patience despite her reluctance to be wooed because she doesnât understand how he could have left her behind when he went to the military. Also, a fours yearsâ separation changed both of them. It was a run romp of a romance!

Enjoyed
I loved this story for many different reasons. It is not my Favorite of all Mrs. Hutton has written but it was what I enjoy and expect of her. Patience and Alex definitely were affected by true trials of their set time period as individuals and as a couple. The secondary characters were perfect. I loved how well developed they are for fitting a secondary role.

Alex and Patience meet when she is 16. Her father announces her engagement to Alex's older brother. Alex leaves and joins the military, four years later he is back in England. When he arrives, he finds out that both his father and brother have died and that his brother never married Patience.

I just finished this book in a day and a half it was that good.. I will say i gof a bit annoyed with Patients but as i thought about it as i was nearing the end i completely understood where she was coming from. I will be reading more Callie Hutton books for sure

Sweet pursuit
Lovely quintessential Callie Hutton Regency novel. I am not a big fan of this era- however Callie Hutton has a way of enticing a reader with a great story.
