Developing Discipline and Intentionality with Time
Description
In this podcast, Charlie Mckenzie discusses his journey to finding success through his career as a grower, father, and business leader, as well as his own personal framework for ruthlessly managing time to become more productive and less overwhelmed. He explains that he had no focus on time management until he became an entrepreneur and had to manage a business and family life, and goes on to explain the various principles and tactics he has implemented to manage his time.
He started to learn different tips and tricks and gain some efficiencies. Charlie also learned a lot about working while traveling during that time. He then developed my 15-step framework for ruthlessly managing time so he could get more done and feel less overwhelmed each day. This framework includes aligning with myself and giving himself me-time, arriving at least 30 minutes before the team on the farm starts their day, aligning with the entirety of the cultivation team, performing uninterrupted independent work based on a priority list for at least 90 minutes each day, walking the facility or property with the cultivation manager and tech lead, getting eyes on each asset each day, and checking and returning emails only twice per day.
By following this framework, he is able to get a lot more done each day and finish the workday with some sense of accomplishment. He can’t say that this happens every single day, but he has found that by being relentless and focused, he is able to achieve his goals. Charlie encourages everyone to find a time management system that works for them and to be disciplined in their approach. With the right system in place, anyone can achieve success.
