Diagnosing and treating aHUS in a 40-day-old patient
Description
In this podcast, our Medical Director, Brad Lewis, discusses a pediatric case of aHUS with Dr. Amara Finch, a Pediatric Resident Physician at the University of Utah.
Dr. Finch presents a fascinating case of atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS) in a 40-day-old patient. Using Machaon Diagnostics' fast turnaround time, physicians were able to get the results for their aHUS Genetic Panel, saving the patient who was to soon have discontinued care.
Comment from the physician: "We are all very appreciative that we were able to get that test back so quickly. I’m pleased to report that we used the results to start Eculizumab on Saturday and it's worked amazingly well! We were on the verge of discontinuing care for this baby, and he is now extubated and totally out of renal failure. It's quite an amazing turnaround. Thank you all so much! Let us know if we can hype you up to anyone!”
Don't forget... Machaon offers aHUS testing with a turnaround time of 24 hours!
