Disney World Christmas Party Style: What are People Actually Wearing?
Description
This week we attended Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and Jollywood Nights back-to-back. We wanted to see if party attire worn by the guests was different at each party. Do party-goers actually take the time to theme their outfits to the event?
Here’s what we discovered.
Are Disney Christmas Party Goers Theming Their Outfits to the Event?
Which Disney Party Has More Guests Styled for the Event?
In past episodes, we have discussed the unique styles of each Disney park at Walt Disney World, along with the corresponding outfits that make the most sense if you want to style for the park. So we had this in the back of our minds as we assessed what people were wearing at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party (Magic Kingdom) and Jollywood Nights (Hollywood Studios).
A couple of style points were pretty apparent right away.
Outfits at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party has been around since 1983, so party goers have a pretty good idea what it’s all about. Most guests at the party were decked out in some sort of Disney style or Mickey wear – many with Christmas or holiday theming.
One of the most noticeable trends at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is guests wearing their pajamas (or pyjamas, depending on how you like to spell it). There were quite a few guest with PJs of all kinds, including families wearing matching PJs.
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party definitely has a classic Disney style, which matches that of the Magic Kingdom (which we discussed in a recent episode).
Outfits at Disney Jollywood Nights
Launching in 2023, Disney Jollywood Nights is a very new Christmas Party. The theming of the party of 1920s Hollywood glitz and glam, which follows the general theming of the park.
We were curious to see how many guests would fully embrace the old-time classic Hollywood style – or that would dress up at all. What we noticed at Jollywood Nights is that while, overall, guests were not as dressed up as they were at MVMCP, those that did dress up really took it to the limit with full dapper glitz and glam.
We saw guests in shimmering dresses, zoot suits, high heels, fancy hats and even a few canes. It really added to the ambience of the event overall. In a weird way, standing at attention ready to be processed by the first order next to a group in their 1920s formal wear oddly made the whole Rise of the Resistance experience feel more authentic. As if guests at a formal party were rounded up with the rest of us.
Is Dressing Up for Disney Christmas Parties Worth It?
Overall, it’s safe to say that if you want to get into the spirit of either of these Disney holiday Christmas parties by dressing up for the occasion, you will not be alone.
Seeing all of these guests in outfits really adds to the overall ambiance and friendly upbeat spirit of the events. And after all, that’s what it’s all about.
