Description

Wisconsin had been democratic since 1988. And then Donald Trump beat Hilary Clinton by just 0.7 per cent in 2016. Four years later Biden beat Trump by 20,000 votes or just 0.6 per cent.

The mid-western state has a history of division. It’s divided fairly evenly into Democrat and Republican supporters, leaving a narrow margin of swing voters for the candidates to court.

But it’s also about motivating supporters to actually vote – a lot will come down to turn-out on the day. In 2020 turn-out in Wisconsin was up by 11 per cent and most of that was Democrat. Both Trump and Harris are frequent visitors to Wisconsin and that’s ramping up.

The economy is the big item as inflation has sent house prices and groceries skyrocketing.
