Today's topic: How similar is the behavior of dogs to the behavior of humans?  This is a question we've always wondered about, so we invited Certified Professional Dog Trainer and Applied Animal Behaviorist, Dr. Karen B. London, PhD, on the pod to help us answer that very question!  Not only that, but we talk to her about her latest book, Treat Everyone Like a Dog: How a Dog Trainer's World View Can Improve Your Life, where she applies many of the principles from dog training to the rest of her life, and we discuss how you can apply those very principles to improve the most important human relationships in your life!  

Guest Bio: Karen B. London, PhD, is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer and a Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist.  She received her BS in Biology from UCLA and her PhD in Zoology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she studied the defensive behavior of neotropical social wasps, and a nesting association between two species of wasps.  She began working professionally with dogs in 1997, and has spent years working with clients in one-on-one consultations, teaching group classes, and giving seminars about dog training and canine ethology for trainers, veterinary and shelter staff, and the public.  She writes for the TheBark.com, writes the animal column for the Arizona Daily Sun, and is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Northern Arizona University, where she has enjoyed teaching tropical ecology and conservation field courses in Nicaragua and in Costa Rica.  She also teaches a class for freshmen about the importance of insects to society called "Sex, Bugs, and Rock 'n' Roll."  She is the author of a number of books, which you can find here.
