Dolphins Waive Rucci, Lions Claim Tight End
Update: 2025-12-02
Description
The Miami Dolphins, in a surprising move, waived second-year tight end Hayden Rucci to make room for returning starters Darren Waller and Austin Jackson. Rucci, who had shown promise in his limited NFL experience, was claimed by the Detroit Lions. The Dolphins decision was justified by Wallers return and the strong performance of Greg Dulcich. Ruccis physical blocking skills, developed at Wisconsin, were not fully utilized in Miamis offensive scheme. He now has a chance to prove himself in Detroit, where his in-line blocking strengths could be more traditionally utilized.
