Description

43-year-old Donald Dugger was last seen in Warroad, Minnesota in the early morning hours of August 11th, 2012. Don was a trucker and had just returned to his place of employment to return the semi he was driving. His plan was to then drive his car back home. Don called his sister and explained that there were people outside of his truck and that he was concerned. She heard Donnie ask “what do you want? I am trying to cooperate.” He then told her that he was going to call 911, which he did. Police responded to the scene but the people Don had seen weren’t there. They left after speaking with Don and later returned to see him loading his personal belongings into his car from the semi. That is the last time anyone saw Donald Dugger. His car was later found abandoned on an ATV trail inside Beltrami Island State Forest.

Over six and a half years later, Donald Dugger is still missing and his case remains unsolved.

If you have any information about the disappearance of Donald Dugger, please contact the Roseau County Sheriff's Office at 218-463-1421.

I hate to think that he sunk into a bog! I suppose it’s difficult to search the bogs in the area his vehicle was found? He may have been dumped into one after foul play but if he was having potential hallucinations and paranoia caused by a mental issue etc, he could have easily fallen into one as he was trying to get away. Rational thought usually diminishes with hallucinations. He may have left his gun behind as a result of mental incompetency but it is odd. Hope he is found, so sorry to the family.

It sounds like he had a mental health crisis. When my teenage son first displayed signs of bipolar, in less than 24 hours he changed from his regular self into someone extremely paranoid and terrified that people were after him. He was having major delusions and hallucinations. At one point he didn’t even recognize me or my husband. He has bipolar with psychotic features, which means if he was not medicated he would see and hear things that aren’t there. It sounds like Don had some sort of similar mental break and fled away, maybe taking an alternate route from normal because he was trying to “elude” someone.

Reminds me of the case shown on 20/20 in the mid 2000s where a couple got lost at night in a blizzard (before cell phones could easily be tracked), called 911 several times over many hours, disoriented, complaining the people they encountered wouldn't help them, and perhaps didn't speak English. They froze to death; they were high on meth and the "people" they'd seen were cattle. I think this guy was either high or in medical crisis, disoriented, and wandered away.

this is a strange case. did anyone else feel like he sounded like he was slurring his speech or mumbling during his 911 call? also, ten people outside his car, but no evidence? lastly if he was in his semi and worried why didn't he just drive away? sounds like a possible medical or mental health issue and he wandered off in the woods. I hope they find him to bring the family some peace.
