Dr. Allison Boester, A Conversation about Women in Medicine and the State of Healthcare for Women
Description
In this episode we’re joined by Dr. Allison Boester. Dr. Boester is an OBGYN practicing in New York City. A cum laude graduate of Tufts University, Dr. Boester received her MD at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Her postdoctoral training included a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Drexel University College of Medicine. Dr. Boester has been on the faculty at Weill Medical College of Cornell University since 2005. She joins Ashley to share the realities of her work and what led her down the path to becoming an OBGYN. She talks about the facets, pace and oftentimes intensive but rewarding tone of her work, how communication with patients has shifted in her practice, and the pros and cons of the introduction of technology. Dr. Boester discusses where we have room for improvement in reproductive healthcare for both doctors and patients and ultimately how balancing and remembering her true calling keeps her grounded in her personal life and as an MD.
You can learn more about Dr. Boester and her practice at Weill Cornell Medicine’s Obstetrics and Gynecology Department.
