The Kansas Department of Health and Environment issued a stream advisory for the affected Haysville Big Ditch area, urging residents and animals to refrain from swimming or drinking from the waterway. The issue arose when failed sewer pipes beneath the floodway were discovered, allowing sewage to escape into the environment. Crews are working to replace the pipes and expect to have new ones installed by Wednesday or Thursday, with results from state department tests expected by Friday or early next week.
