E22: Sea breeze thunderstorms
Update: 2024-06-05
Description
A common event on Delmarva in late spring and summer is the sea breeze induced thunderstorm. Chief Meteorologist Rich Wirdzek and Meteorologist Erich Ahlf talk about how sea breezes, especially from the Atlantic side, can act like mini cold fronts and trigger showers and storms on sunny and hot days. With a dry spring thus far, these storms become more critical to the water table across the peninsula in the hotter weeks ahead.
