I looked outside and my most beautiful chicken, Maybell, (she's a Jersey Giant) was strutting around with a bald neck, and some of her fluffy butt feathers were gone.
How sad! But, this makes perfect sense, it's molting season. The egg production is down, and the ladies are looking a little ragged, kind of like the Velveteen Rabbit.
