As Hollywood does, a film adaptation was soon commissioned, and was passed around between different directors before finally landing at the feet of Jared Hess -- director of Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre. You'd think this would allow him to flex his comedic prowess. You'd think this would ensure the movie being decent. You would be wrong.
