They are the co-owners of the E. E. Ward Moving & Storage Company that is America’s oldest, in continuation operation Black business, that began in 1881 right here in Columbus, Ohio. They also recently expanded and opened offices in Charlotte.
In 1881 the company founded by John T. Ward and his son, William S. Ward started the Ward Transfer Line with a team of horses, a wagon, and two helpers also assisted runaway slaves seeking freedom on the Underground Railroad.
