In order to achieve results to create value for your business and customers, you and your team members need to be committed to take action by collaborating. As a leader you use power to achieve change but you cannot possess power over your team members and dominate them as it will create conflicts.

Conflicts can happen when you have different opinions among yourselves and some cannot accept other people’s different opinions. Today, conflict perception is turned to cultural awareness; value creation and skills to listen, advocate and negotiate instead of having an authoritarian approach that ignores other parties.

The implications of conflicts can be negative and therefore destructive or positive and constructive. Conflicts don’t need to be negative. Unresolved conflicts lead to, stress, a decreased moral and productivity, frustration within the team and violence in worst cases.

A team will succeed when there is collaboration and all team members should be accountable and responsible for the result of any task performed to increase the business effectiveness. You as the leader, you need to align the project strategy to the business strategy by asking the right questions in order to take the right decisions.

You need to behave like a leader by showing a clear direction through your business vision, empower your team to deliver quality products and service to satisfy your customers need and therefore increase your business performance.
