With many MLM structured brokerage brand incentive programs come the requirement to recruit a certain number of people in order to "activate" the rest of the "legs" of a downline, resulting in impaired income potential. Furthermore, the stock purchase plans have 3 year or longer waiting periods for options to mature and other qualifiers that do not provide immediate and substantial income potential, hampering long term investment opportunities into other mediums such as a private property portfolio, bonds, or a balanced SEP IRA retirement account not tied to just one stock.
