In early 2025, I had a conversation with SamAt Sarin who is a baker and research assistant from Cambodia. He currently lives in Nagano, Japan with his wife and two children.

EASY ENGLISH GRAMMAR POINT for EPISODE #13

For today’s episode, please listen to the way Sarin and Kris compare and contrast things. In English we often use words like “best” or “most” that function as adjectives or adverbs.

For example:

I like Gifu the most

or

Tom is my best friend.”

EASY ENGLISH USAGE POINT for EPISODE #13

The second thing I would like to focus on in today’s interview is a review from Episode #1 of Season #2. The word, “actually” when it is used at the beginning of a sentence to indicate something true that might be unexpected.

For example:

Actually, I never wanted to travel to Japan.”

COMPREHENSION QUESTIONS FOR EPISODE #13

* Where is Sarin from?

* What does he do at Daily Yamazaki?

* How many years has he lived in Japan?

* What is very crowded in Hanoi?

* How many hours does it take to get from Narita to Vancouver by Airplane?

* How long is a direct flight from Japan to Cambodia?

* What radio station does Sarin listen to?

* How many children does Sarin have?

* Who is better at cooking, Sarin or his wife?

* What did Kris’s friend put on his wall to help him study Japanese?
