Description

Edie Brickell and Trever Hagen of Heavy MakeUp join Kyle Meredith to talk about the group's sophomore album, Here It Comes. Listen to the conversation now.

Brickell details how the music made with the trio (which is rounded out by yMusic’s CJ Camerieri) all comes from completely improvised sessions with no written material brought in. She discusses her ability to come up with the lyrics while recording them in one-take sessions, and how the unique process changes the artists' relationship with their material.

Hagen, who has played trumpet for Bon Iver, goes on to tell us about the in-the-moment studio situations that led to some of the album’s most striking sounds. He also teases that a third Heavy MakeUP LP could be out as early as next year.

Listen to Edie Brickell & Trever Hagen chat about all this and more in the new episode or watch it on YouTube. Please take the time to like, review, and subscribe to KMW wherever you get your podcasts, and keep up to date with all our series by following the Consequence Podcast Network.
