Egypt’s Resilience Before, During, and After Covid
Description
Egypt historically has experienced a major shock to its economy and its tourism industry about every 10 years for the past half-century or so, so Egyptians are used to dealing with – and bouncing back from – a crisis, and Covid-19 is no exception. While much of the rest of the world deals with such a major shock for the first time in their modern history, Egypt is accustomed to it and prepared to wait out the downturn.
In this special episode on the early Covid period in Egypt, John shares what it was like being in Egypt (and some other early-hit countries) at the outbreak of the global pandemic, why Egyptians are so resilient, and why he’s always so optimistic about the future of tourism in Egypt, even in times like these.
