Forage production is a critical part of raising healthy, productive livestock, and this year’s Sunbelt Ag Expo highlighted innovative ways to improve hay and pasture management. Attendees from across the Southeast gathered to explore the latest tools, technologies, and products designed to help producers boost their forage yields and improve profitability.

We spoke with Jack Conroy of Envu to get his perspective on producer interactions and the latest trends in forage management during the event.

“It’s a really good expo show. I would call it, it was pre-hurricane attendance with lots of producers, lots of contract applicators, lots of folks very interested in learning and growing their business. We were located in the beef barn over there, along with the University of Georgians and had lots of questions from producers about different weed species that they’re fighting in their fields to try to help increase their production. Our main focus is Rezilon, which is turning to be a game changer here with hay production just because it actually gets ahead of the problem with our pre-emergence activity for specific weeds like crabgrass, amber, ryegrass. We keep those out of your hay and forage fields. It’s important too because Rezilon is one of the first new chemistries that have come along in the hay and forage industry in a long, long time. We’ve heard that from a lot of producers that this is an excellent tool to put in their toolbox but it’s a new tool. Also had some outstanding demos there that Dr. Lisa Baxter and Cody with the expo there, the farm manager there at the expo, put on out there at the hay demos with all kinds of different equipment, baling equipment, raking equipment, mowers as well. Very, very good attendance, lots of good questions. It was really a great expo.”

Conroy’s comments underscore how innovation and education are driving progress in forage production. The introduction of Rezilon has created new opportunities for producers to manage weed pressure more effectively and increase the quality of their hay and forage.

With expert-led demonstrations, hands-on learning, and strong participation, the Sunbelt Ag Expo once again proved to be a valuable hub for advancing livestock and forage management practices across the region.
