Ep: 46: The 2023 Academy Awards A Battle Of Two Films, Wins, Losses & Favouritism Pt: 1
Update: 2023-03-23
Description
This is episode 46 of The Truth Tank.
It's that time of the year again, Oscars Time! We will be reviewing and recapping the Winners, the Losers, the Snubs, the Memorable Moments and the funny & unfunny cringy blatantly obvious favouritism that is the 2023 Academy Awards.
It's hard to believe its been a year since the infamous slap served by Will Smith and the damage that came afterwards. In the past few years, it seems that some of the Oscars are awarded purely for Political or Social Reasons which makes you think "Are the Academy Awards still relevant?". The more the Academy panders to Political Correctness, Social Justice and what is relevant, the more it feels irrelevant.
The Academy also gives the impression of favouring two films, which are then played off against each other, creating a false sense of conflict/competition. This years favourites being "Everything Everywhere All At Once" vs "All Quiet On The Western Front". "Elvis" and "Tar" are examples of great Films that were snubbed. Are the Oscars playing favourites, Pandering, Stuck in thier own little bubble or just plain rigged?
