For our first episode my guest is Keith Jacks of Third Rail Productions, based in Teaneck, NJ. He’s a world-class engineer who’s worked with Najee, KRS One, Michael Bolton, and the late Donna Summer, just to name a few. He’s a graduate of Full Sail Center for the Recording Arts (Full Sail University) in Florida and also studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Keith and I talk about T-R-P, his creation process in the studio, the gear used for various types of projects, the gigs he’s been a part of, building an audience, promoting independent projects, client contracts, non-disclosure agreements, and more…
We also briefly talk about the following gear: Neumann TLM103, Midas Venice Mixing Boards, Otari Reel-to-Reel machines, Studer products, EZ Keys by Toontrack, Roland XV5050 Synth Module, KORG MS 2000R, Pro Tools, Logic, his 14 guitars, and the first pieces of equipment from T-R-P’s “Red Room” – Casio RZ1, Electro Voice RE20, and a Sony ¼” 4-track deck.
