Ep 13 with Adventure, Trail and Road Champion Laura O´Driscoll
Welcome to episode 13 of Trail Running Ireland. The show is hosted by Eoin Flynn, UTMB Finish Line Race Announcer and 10 times Irish International Mountain Runner.
First up, Eoin chats to Simon Kelly from the Waterville Trail Running Festival who brings us through the latest set of results as well as a cautionary tale from his own solo attempt on the Kerry Way Ultra course when he ended up battling Mother Nature and as you can imagine, there was only one winner.
(35m15s) Our expert trail running coach Rene Borg looks at how cross country running can benefit us in the hills as well as cross country being great fun and a great learning environment on how to race.
Rene can be contacted at www.runningcoach.ie
(58m30s) For our feature interview we talk with recent winner of the Kerry Way Ultra Lite and incredible all rounder Laura O´Driscoll.
Laura chats about:
· A life changing car accident
· Her experiences travelling and training in Canada, Australia and beyond
· How Yoga has impacted her life and her training
· Her typical training week
· Her mindset regarding being competitive and what she values most in sport
Laura can be contacted though her Facebook and Instagram accounts for details about her excellent Yoga for athletes classes.
Competition time too thanks to the Dublin Trail Running Festival and a reminder that we are on the look-out for a show sponsor to help keep us going over the autumn and winter months. We´ve got a great loyal listener base who show super support to the show every week and over 5,300 followers on our social media channels so if you would like to see your event, your product or company get some excellent exposure to the Trail and Mountain running community in Ireland, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Finally, a special thanks to Basic Needs with Trail runner Shane O´Mahony from Cork on drums, for our very cool soundtrack.
