Description

In this episode of the 10 Forty Podcast, we delve into the world of HGV apprenticeships within the Defence Forces. Our guest is Killian, a dedicated member of the Defence Forces with 16 years of experience. Joining the forces at the age of 19, Killian has progressed through the ranks to become a Corporal, serving overseas as a Section Commander in Lebanon and completing the All Arms Standard Course, making him eligible for promotion to Sergeant.

Killian’s journey took a new turn when he applied to become an apprentice Heavy Goods Vehicle Mechanic (HGVM) within the Defence Forces. Successfully securing a spot, Killian made the decision to drop back to the rank of Private to pursue this apprenticeship. Now in phase five of his training, Killian is gaining hands-on experience working with Scania. His training spans a range of vehicles, from light soft skin vehicles to 8-wheel armoured personnel carriers.

Join us as Killian shares his unique experiences, insights, and the opportunities available within the Defence Forces for those interested in a career as an HGV mechanic. For more information on careers within the Defence Forces, visit military.ie.
